1 + 1 = 3. It should provoke in our mind something like that: "Hey, what a hell is that?". Our first reaction would be: laughing. And it's funny, funny to see how that affirmation is true. When we add a dad + a mother, it creates a baby (something or someone) new. In a brainstorming session, we all secretly want our idea is taken, applaused. And what could be more exciting? It's when we combine our idea with an idea of our team mate. There's nothing much powerful than that feeling, it's like a cerebral orgasm. That kind of combination creates strong ideas, makes the idea unique.
 
So it's about leaving our ego for a second outside of the brainstorming, creating a room to embrace new ideas, new alternatives.
 
The interesting fact about "1 + 1 = 3" is, it allows people to reconsider something seems to be obvious (something which is a convention from a human being POV). It allows reframing our thinking and the way we see the world. At the end of the day, it's all about point of view.
