statement 04

"I don't think it's possible". It's interesting to observe the "I" is sometimes ourselves, because we listen to our inner voice. And unsurprisingly, we get stuck. No idea comes out. Our assumptions are like an "auto-censure".

And in some other situations, the "I" we hear is a voice coming from that guy saying "it's not possible because X or Y reason". So we stop to digg further. But wait, we should ask to that guy if he has any evidence about what he's saying? The more something seems to be obvious, the more we should have evidence.

If we stop there, it means that guy has his right to decide about how we should think, and what is right or what is wrong. Most of the time, people don't dare to assess what is obvious, because it's... obvious. But as a creative we should be a little bit stubborn and not listen to what people say.

Research & data help to make sure the assumptions are not... assumptions, but the real facts. The more obvious an assumption is, the more it is likely the result of a bias. So it's up to us to fall into that trap (or not). So we might be surprised about the difference between what we think (assume) and what the reality really is.

Without research or data, we should feel free to forget assumptions, keep going further, exploring about what is possible.
